Charlotte S.
"I am passionate about opening doors and holding those open for the future generation to explore a profession in healthcare. Being a Young Fellow will not only open this door for me, but will equip me with the skills, support and like-minded individuals to be able to build these doors, these opportunities and our future."
Hamaad A. K.
"My ambition as a Young Fellow is to collaborate with my peers and facilitate national discussions – between current and future stakeholders – on the need for a more holistic lens in medical practise which prioritises prevention over treatment."
Rachel H.
"As a Young Fellow I hope to collaborate with like-minded peers to contribute to the improvement of child health within the UK through a variety of means. Throughout this fellowship I will be able to develop new skills and work with a wide variety of people with differing levels of expertise."
Our students are changing the world… for the better
Over the past 7 years we have developed a global aspiring medics community. We empower our students to initiate and conduct their projects from start to completion. Projects can range from scientific research, public health initiatives, charity or volunteering. Every year we provide a set number of existing projects for students to get involved. Previous students have conducted projects with NHS England, Harvard Medical School, international charities and local public health awareness campaigns.
Yi-Han, Thailand
By joining the Medefine community, Yi-Han has had the opportunity to join a wide range of seminars, volunteering activities, and projects to support her local community and boost her personal statement and application. Yi-Han has put together a book entitled “Oh! It’s cancer” aiming to help children aged 8-14 who have been diagnosed with the disease to understand cancer better. This is an award winning project which has made her application stand out from the crowd.
Tamar, UAE
Tamar has joined the Young Talent Academy (3 years in advance), gaining access to virtual work experience placements in surgery, paediatrics, and several other medical disciplines as well as receiving mentoring and tutoring on a variety of topics relating to her medical school application. As part of the Medefine Education Academy, Tamar has developed an international organisation to support the delivery of sanitary products to women in Beirut, Lebanon, following the recent explosion. Tamar’s enthusiasm and project will nevertheless help her stand out from the crowd during the application process.
